EExecution

Once you have got your planning as explained in Content Marketing Process- Part 1, move onto the execution steps.

How can you bring content marketing ideas to life?

Establish Team Roles

Find people who can do the following;

  • Planning
  • Publishing
  • Promoting

Team roles may be different than actual job titles.

Understanding Keyword Research

Getting ideas for content can be challenging. I have always found “Keyword research” is the simplest way to know what audiences want and this is vital for creating content to know what your audience wants. It should solve 3 purposes;

  • This should help you understand what people want to read. This typically means answer or resolve their queries.
  • You should understand the intent behind the keywords. Carefully analyse search results for keyword terms to ensure that you are thinking in the similar way people are really looking for solutions to their problem.
  • Also, it can help you understand what you can rank on. You can get competition details from keyword tools.

Here is a simple guide to keyword research that you can explore to get content ideas.

Planning Your Content Marketing Calendar

Have one unified marketing calendar that your entire team can follow. Map all the deadlines and keep everything organized so that the team in charge can see the progress for every project.

Don’t spend your precious time creating calendar. Use the pre- built checklist.

You can achieve this with a simple spreadsheet as well.

Creating Content: Writing + Design

Create clear processes for writers and designers so that you can eliminate confusions amongst the team and responsibilities.

A basic workflow might look like this:

  1. Writer drafts content in a template or document.
  2. Then, writer and designer discuss images to include.
  3. Designer takes direction and adds other images where necessary.

This is loosely how it works.
